12 hours in and four RX-8s have overcome trouble to run in the top 10

The 2008-wining #70 car had moved up to 3rd by the six-hour mark. The #40 entry, racing steadily, was 8th. Meanwhile, the #69 machine, which had dropped back a little earlier, regained a berth in the top 10.

Conversely, the #41 car damaged its radiator after hitting a stone on the track. After repairs, an alternator failure lost them more time. The leader among the RX-8s, the #70 also ran into a little bad luck, making contact with a prototype car which necessitated a visit to the pits. They were soon back in action, however. Throughout the night the race was uneventful for the RX-8 entries. After 10 hours, the order saw the #69 car leading in 5th, followed by the #70 in 7th, the #40 in 8th and the #43 car 9th, so that there were four RX-8s in the top ten. The event was still to reach its halfway point, and by around 2:00am the temperature was plummeting.
