#70 RX-8 is 7th in class at the point of halfway of the 24-hour race
Race Report - At the 12-Hour mark

The race has just past halfway 12 hours and many troubled DP cars came to garage to fixing. #70 SpeedSource RX-8 GT runs highest position among the Mazda entries, 8th in class. There are no chance to fog anymore, but full caution laps is conducted intermittently due to remove the crashed and over ran cars.

#41 RX-8, which had damage on its body during the opening stint, came back to the race around 1:00 am after finish repairing. Every year, there are many contact in Daytona so that teams suffered from the accident. The Mazda's ace, #70 SpeedSource RX-8 is not exception. It contacted slightly with competitor, but it didn't need to repair. However, the DP car in the next pit of #70 was being worked, therefore #70 could not pit-out. The crews push #70 back to pit and re-started. They lost a few second. #70 ran lap steadily.

John Doonan, Director of Motorsports at Mazda North American Operations, said, “We avoid getting exhaustion and lap steadily. Driver change is also double stint. We have to tolerate during this moment for fighting from daybreak.”

At the point of 12 hours past, #70 is 7th in class, #40 is 16th, #42 is 19th, #41 is 31st, and Andretty family's #36 Yellow Dragon RX-8 is 34th.
