RE Amemiya Racing's RX-7 sets eighth-quickest time at SGT official test
The last official pre-season test for SUPER GT was held on the 5th and 6th of March at Suzuka Circuit. RE Amemiya Racing joined the test, bringing along its RX-7 and continuing their run until the very end of the two-day session.
The first day was run under dry conditions, where the team set the eighth fastest time in the morning and were seventh in the afternoon. On the morning of the second day, in wet conditions, the team set the sixth best time. After lunch, conditions gradually dried, though wet patches remained. The team were therefore forced to run on slick tyres while the car was still set up for the wet. Whether it will be wet or dry in the opening round of the 2010 SUPER GT season in two weeks' time, there's no doubt the stalwart entry will be able to demonstrate an appropriate level of performance.
Nobuteru Taniguchi:"I have had nothing to worry about as both the car and my teammate are the same as last season. The main purpose of this test was to warm myself up and make a final check of the car prior to the opening round; and of course to check out the tyres. We were able to test in both dry and wet conditions here at Suzuka. The machine tended to show a little understeer on the first day; but we're headed in a good direction now, so the test was very productive I think."
Ryo Orime:"Actually, we had some trouble on the morning of the second day, but we got through a few tasks in the afternoon. Mr. Taniguchi tested many different settings and I then confirmed them later on, something like that. Throughout the two days, I think our test was quite good overall. I'm looking forward to the opening round."
