In Super Taikyu's irregular sprint round at Suzuka, RS-R Demio gets results Super Taikyu Round 6 Super Taikyu Series Round 6 - Suzuka Circuit
In Round 6 of the Super Taikyu Series, held at Suzuka Circuit on September 20 and 21, the ST-5 class #99 RS-R Demio (RYU1, Ryo Hamaguchi, Hiroshi Nomura) took their first victory in the first race. They came in third in the second race, and second in the third race, placing high each time, and in the sprint races, a departure from the normal endurance format, the Demio's speed left an impression.
The Super Taikyu event at Suzuka was held in an irregular style, using a sprint format that called for three 40-minute races, with qualifying and the first race on Saturday, and the second and third races held on Sunday. RS-R Demio driver RYU1 posted the top time in qualifying for the A drivers, and went into the first race with momentum. Due to the regulations that the B drivers' times are used to determine the starting grid, RYU1 started fifth on the grid. In the first lap, he rose to second place, and closed on the Vitz in the lead, and the #99 RS-R Demio initiated a nose-to-tail battle. On the fourth lap, he finally took over the top spot, but the safety car was sent out due to oil on the track. After the race was restarted with only 10 minutes remaining, he pulled through a fierce battle with the Vitz closing in from behind, achieving his first appearance on the podium and first win in Japan this season.
The #17 NOPRO Demio crashed during the test day on Friday. Although rush repairs restored the machine by Saturday morning, when it started off in qualifying, it developed electrical trouble that only occurred during high-speed sections, leaving them unable to display their speed. As a result, they could not demonstrate their full abilities, finishing fifth in the first race, and on Sunday, placing fifth in the second race and fourth in the third. However, because they have consistently gained points, this leads to their hope of being in contention for second place in this year's series. Also, this year's ST-5 class championship title was clinched by the #19 BRP Fit at this round. The final Super Taikyu event of the year will be held at Autopolis in Oita Prefecture on November 9 (Sat) and 10 (Sun).
