Mazda Look Forward to Brands Hatch after Rockingham Retirement
British GT Championship

Sunday 10th June, the formidable Mazda MX-5 GT was running third in class at Rockingham before being forced to retire due to a differential issue.

The 320bhp MX-5 GT proved why it has caused such a stir so far this year, setting impressive lap times, and remaining at the front of the grid for more than half of the race. As ever, the race provided valuable insight for the development of the car based on Mazda's iconic roadster and the team will now set their sights on a podium for Brands Hatch.

Despite the retirement, Jota Sport Managing Director, Sam Hignett, was encouraged by the weekend's activities: “It's disappointing to have had to retire from the race after such a positive first outing at Nurburgring. The team and drivers endured a tough weekend and worked extremely hard to get the results that we were able to come away with. We'll now continue to develop the car in preparation for the next round at Brands Hatch. We are still yet to demonstrate the full potential of the MX-5 GT and we look forward to doing so.”
