PAC Performance MX-6 is back! Keen for Jamboree 2011
PAC Performance, a leading Australian drag racing team and rotary tuner, will return to the Australian drag racing championship. PAC Performance crashed its 20B 3-rotor turbo Mazda 6 drag racer in May. However, the team is bringing back its MX-6 20B turbo drag racer, formerly the team's first runner. The MX-6 showed its performance with a clocking of 6.70 seconds in its test run. PAC Performance is preparing to enter Jamboree 2011, Australia's biggest drag racing event, and is ready to declare its complete revival.
PAC Performance's Mazda 6 crashed at the Nitro Champs, held at Sydney Dragway on the 1st of May 2011. The Mazda 6, driven by Rocky Rehayem, turned hard right at the 1000ft mark and went head on into the wall at over 280kph, the car flipped on its roof and then slid to a stop deep into the braking area, in a ball of flames. Fortunately, during the ordeal, Rocky was awake for the whole ride and had the presence of mind to deploy the on board extinguisher which controlled the fire. The emergency crew was quick to respond, getting to the car just as it stopped sliding. Rocky suffered bruised ribs, a fracture to the L2 vertebrae in his back, lacerations in his groin and a stretched nerve in his left eye. Considering the extent of the accident it could have been a lot worse. All injuries should make a full recovery with plenty of rest and TLC and for that he is truly thankful.
The team will enter Jamboree 2011 on August 27-28 in their legendary MX-6 with George Rehayem at the wheel. Rocky has made a great recovery and will lead the team as Crew Chief.
The MX-6 20B turbo uses VP RACING METHANOL and produces 1250ps. It recorded a 6.70 in a test run by George Rehayem, Rocky's brother, on August 13th in Sydney. The car showed a strong performance following the world's fastest rotary drag car, also a Mazda 6, which recorded a time of 6.58 seconds.
