Renowned historic racing car event, the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion is set to take place from Thursday, August 18th to Sunday the 21st at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in California. The 1991 Le Mans-winning Mazda 787B and former Mazda factory driver Yojiro Terada are to participate in the event.
Mazda North American Operations (MNAO) have invited the Mazda 787B and Yojiro Terada to this most popular of events. Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca is Mazda's home track, located near the resort town of Monterey, close to San Francisco. It is a circuit familiar to all U.S. motorsports lovers and features the most famous corner of any American racetrack, the steeply twisting Corkscrew.
A massive number of car enthusiasts gather from all across the U.S. to visit Monterey at this time of year, and more than 500 historic race cars including F1 machinery, Group C cars and touring class racing cars participate in the various events including the race style run, exhibit at the Concours d'Elegance and so on. Mr. Yojiro Terada will drive the Mazda 787B, which was fully restored prior to its demonstration runs at Le Mans in June, at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca at racing speed. In addition to hosting the Mazda 787B, many other Mazda racecars are set to participate in the event. They include MNAO's restored Mazda 787, an RX-7 GTO and the final 4-rotor GTP car, the Mazda RX792. Many famous drivers from Europe and North America will be participating.
MZRacing will be posting reports with pictures from each of the four days of this event sent by Mr. Yojiro Terada. Please check back to the website for those updates!
