Mazda backs “Support Our Kids” Le Mans homestay program

Mazda announced its endorsement of the objectives of Support Our Kids, a project that supports independence for children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake, as well as its assistance with invitations to the Le Mans Homestay Program for 10 middle and high school students from the affected areas.

This program aims to provide support to children affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake by fostering independence in those who will bear the responsibility of rebuilding in the future through overseas homestays and other such cultural exchange activities with the assistance of diplomats from around the world stationed in Japan, athletes, celebrities, and business leaders. Additionally, the ACO, organizers of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, has chosen the Mazda 787B as the best Le Mans car representing the 1990s, and they plan to hold a demonstration run of the race-winning machine at the ceremony commemorating the 90th anniversary of the race, which the children will attend.

The children participating in this homestay program will first attend a training workshop, then depart from Narita International Airport on June 16, and stay in France for about two weeks. In addition, the Mazda 787B is scheduled to be on display in the exhibition space of the Circuit de la Sarthe, alongside other “Best Le Mans Car” winners from different eras, and will participate in a demonstraation run on the 22nd, the day of the start of the 24-hour race.

At MZRacing, we will be reporting from the site on both the 90th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Support Our Kids programs. Stay tuned!
