Pescarolo Mazda LMP2 won in 2nd race, got victory in first round
The second race of the inaugural round of the Asian Le Mans Series at Okayama took place from 09:00am to twelve noon November 1, Sunday. The weather turned cloudy and with a higher probability of rain than the previous day's clear skies. In spite of the conditions, there were many enthusiasts spread across all of the circuit's stands from early in the morning. Fortunately, the race started under dry conditions.
The starting driver of the Pescarolo Mazda LMP2 from Oak Racing was 24 year-old M.Lahaye. "I'm not really worried about the race today. Yesterday's fuel trouble has already been fixed. I'll enjoy the race, and I'm glad I've got the chance to come to Japan," he said, looking relaxed. The race started under clear skies. In the LMP1 class, another competitor led the race. The many spectators were enthralled by the nimble and powerful Le Mans cars. The Pescarolo Mazda LMP2 finished totally clearly and without any trouble, taking the victory in the LMP2 class with seventh overall.
Eventually, the second race finished with the checquered flag waved by Mr. Spender, vice president of Mazda at that time. The three drivers of the Pescarolo Mazda raised the trophy over their heads from the top step of the podium in the LMP2 class while the French national anthem played.
