The Star Mazda Championship is a one-make formula category racing series where each car is equipped with the Mazda RENESIS rotary engine.
It is one of North America's premier open-wheel driver development series and a well-established gateway to many forms of motorsport – and is also approved as part of the official "Road to Indy" development system. Rising stars from around the world eager to be Indy car drivers and participate in the IZOD IndyCar Series and the Indianapolis 500, participate in the Star Mazda Championship.
Drivers 16 years of age and older are eligible to compete in the series main class, while competitors from the ages of 30-44 run in the Expert class, and those 45 and older race in the Master class.
Every season the series holds upwards of 10 events, with most races held on major race weekends supporting American Le Mans Series or Indy Racing League events. All races take place within continental North America.
