at Sebring

The USF2000 series champion driver of 2010, Sage Karam accomplished another milestone on his personal road to Indy on Friday when he tested an Andersen Racing Star Mazda car at Sebring International Raceway.

Karam, 15, of Nazareth, Pa., earned a scholarship from Mazda valued at $350,000 to help him advance to the Star Mazda series next year as part of his award for winning the driver title in the USF2000 series top division, the Championship class. His team, Andretti Autosport, also won that the team championship in that class. Karam was also a 2010 semi-finalist in Sports Illustrated Kids SportsKid of the Year contest.

"Testing a Star Mazda car was a totally new experience for me," Karam said. "The car was great. I am definitely looking forward to the season. We have a lot to learn and it's going to take time, but we can do it. I have to thank Andersen Racing for the test. Everything was great!"
